Teaching Artists
Job Summary:
Art Prevails Project is seeking dedicated Teaching Artists with a deep passion for the arts and education. A teaching artist is an artist with strong skills and knowledge in their craft. They are eager to give back to their community and passionate about impacting, inspiring, and exposing the underserved communities around them with and through the arts. They are dedicated to being a supportive and guiding influence in the lives of the students they have the privilege of teaching.
These individuals play a crucial role in nurturing students' creativity by guiding them through the artistic process. They will be responsible for sparking an interest in creative expression and honing students' skills and techniques in various art forms, all in accordance with the guidelines set by Art Prevails Project. Additionally, they will help students develop a deeper appreciation for the arts and uncover and cultivate their unique talents.
Responsibilities
Establishing and maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment
Guiding students through the creative process
Helping students understand the techniques of expressive writing, and provide personalized evaluation and feedback
Preparing students for performances and presentations
Tracking and setting goals for Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Skills
Knowledge and strength in an artistic discipline
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Flexibility and adaptability
Prior experience in arts education (desired but not required)
Planning
Develop and implement lesson plans and curriculum independently and collaboratively
Provide instruction on creative expression in various disciplines.
Professional Development
Attending training sessions and workshops
Bi-monthly training
Shadowing and observations with feedback
Additional professional growth activities.
Communication
Report attendance and summary notes for each session.
Maintain open and effective communication with management, class teacher, and site support.
Requirements
Traveling to various locations for work
Level one Background Screening
Compensation: $40/hr
